When you receive your tuber, soak it in a plastic container with warm water until it begins producing sprouts. It can take up to 2 weeks. After that plant it in a non-draining plastic container, which can hold about 3″ (8cm) of clay soil and 2-3″ (5-8cm) of water above it. The diameter of the planter shoud be about 18″ (45cm).
When planting, be careful to not damage the fragile sprouts. Have about 1″ soil on top of the tuber. To help it stay buried, you can put a thin layer of pea gravel or a small stone on top of the soil. Fill the planter with 2-3″ of warm water and put it in a sunny warm spot without cold drafts. Feed is with aquatic plants fertilizer every two weeks.
