Due to the extended U.S. tariffs introduced by the Trump administration, we’ve been forced to stop selling live plants. The U.S. was our main market, and without that revenue, it’s no longer possible for us to continue offering plants to other countries either. We sincerely thank you for your support — and we look forward to resuming full operations if the situation changes.

Sorry, this product is not available to purchase in your country.

Pandanus amaryllifolius, also known as Edible Pandan or Fragrant Screw Pine, is a tropical plant celebrated for its sweet, vanilla-like aroma. This small shrub, reaching heights of 1 to 1.5 meters, is prized in cooking for flavoring rice, desserts, and beverages. The plant features long, green, strappy leaves that are soft and spineless, making it easy to handle and harvest. It is a delightful addition to any garden or kitchen, providing fresh leaves that can be used in a variety of culinary applications.

We ship only healthy plants that were grown in pots. We carefully remove the soil and wrap the roots in damp sterile coconut peat. Then, we gently pack the root ball in a plastic bag. After that, we wrap the plant in special paper and then in a sturdy cardboard box shipped with the shipping option of your choice.

Care Guide For Fragrant Pandan

The Fragrant Pandan, also known as Scented Pandan or Fragrant Screwpine, is a versatile and aromatic plant cherished for its culinary uses and delightful fragrance. Here’s a comprehensive care guide to ensure your Pandanus amaryllifolius thrives:

Light Requirements

Fragrant Pandan prefers bright, indirect sunlight. While it can tolerate partial shade, providing ample light helps maintain its vibrant foliage and fragrance. For indoor growth, place the plant near a window where it can receive plenty of light but avoid direct midday sun, which can scorch the leaves.

Watering Needs

This plant thrives in consistently moist soil, especially during its active growing season. Water regularly, ensuring the soil remains damp but not waterlogged. In winter, reduce watering to prevent root rot, as the plant is sensitive to cold and excess moisture. A well-draining soil mix is essential to avoid water stagnation, which can lead to root diseases.

Soil and Fertilization

Scented Pandan grows best in rich, free-draining, slightly acidic soil. A soil mix designed for tropical plants or a general-purpose potting mix amended with organic matter works well. Fertilize the plant monthly during the growing season with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer. This encourages healthy leaf growth and enhances the plant’s aromatic qualities. Reduce fertilization in the cooler months when growth slows down.

Temperature and Humidity

Being a tropical plant, Fragrant Screwpine prefers warm, humid conditions. It thrives in temperatures between 20°C to 30°C (68°F to 86°F). The plant is sensitive to frost and cold drafts, which can damage its leaves. In cooler climates, grow the plant indoors or in a greenhouse during winter.

Pruning and Maintenance

Regularly prune any dead or yellowing leaves to keep the plant looking its best. Pruning also helps to encourage bushier growth. If the plant becomes leggy, trim back the stems to promote a more compact habit. This is particularly useful if you’re growing the plant for its leaves, which are used in cooking.

Propagation

Fragrant Pandan can be propagated by division or from offsets that form at the base of the plant. This method is straightforward and allows you to expand your collection or share the plant with others. Ensure that each division has a portion of roots attached to support new growth.

Pest and Disease Management

While Fragrant Pandan is generally pest-resistant, it can occasionally attract pests like mealybugs and aphids. Regularly inspect the plant for signs of infestation and treat any issues promptly with insecticidal soap or neem oil. Avoid overwatering and ensure good air circulation around the plant to prevent fungal diseases.

Uses and Benefits

Beyond its use in the kitchen, where it flavors rice, desserts, and beverages, Fragrant Pandan also serves as a natural air freshener due to its pleasant scent. The leaves can be used in traditional medicine and are said to repel insects like cockroaches.

By following these care tips, you can enjoy the lush growth and delightful aroma of your Fragrant Pandan. This versatile plant not only adds a tropical touch to your garden or home but also offers practical benefits in cooking and beyond.
