All our Hibiscus are grown for at least 4 months after successful grafting before we ship them. The plants we ship are bare root. We remove the leaves and wrap the roots in moist Sphagnum. When the plant(s) arrives, unpack, let it breath for 1hour in the shade. Plant in well drained soil, don’t fertilize the first 5 weeks. Water well to get the soil to set around the roots. Put it a nice bright and warm spot and your plant should start growing in few weeks.General Care for Tropical Hibiscus
Tropical Hibiscus, renowned for their vibrant blooms and lush foliage, belong to the Malvaceae family and thrive in warm, tropical climates. Here’s a general guide to caring for Tropical Hibiscus:
Lighting: Tropical Hibiscus thrives in full sun to partial shade. Ensure they receive at least 6 hours of direct sunlight daily for optimal blooming.
Watering: These plants prefer consistently moist soil. Water regularly but avoid waterlogging. Ensure the soil is well-drained to prevent root rot.
Soil: Use a well-draining, fertile soil mix. A combination of garden soil, compost, and perlite or sand works well.
Temperature: Tropical Hibiscus flourishes in warm temperatures, ideally between 16-32°C (60-90°F). They are sensitive to frost and should be protected from temperatures below 10°C (50°F).
Humidity: High humidity levels benefit Tropical Hibiscus. Maintaining humidity around 50-70% can enhance their growth and blooming.
Fertilization: Feed regularly during the growing season with a balanced (similar N-P-K values), water-soluble fertilizer. Reduce feeding in the winter months.
Pruning: Regular pruning helps maintain the shape and encourages more blooms. Prune in early spring or late summer after the flowering period.
Propagation: Propagation can be done through stem cuttings or air layering. Stem cuttings should be taken in spring or early summer and allowed to root in a moist, well-draining medium.
Pests and Diseases: Watch for pests like aphids, spider mites, and whiteflies. Fungal diseases can occur in high humidity, so ensure good air circulation and avoid overhead watering.
By following these care guidelines, your Tropical Hibiscus can thrive and bring a touch of tropical beauty to your garden or home.
